Go from a local offer to verified enrollment.
- Enter your ZIP code on SafeLink to see the available offer.
- Complete the Lifeline verification and send proof only when requested.
- Save your confirmation, then finish any provider and activation steps.
1. Check the offer for your ZIP code
See which SafeLink offer is available where you live. Have your ZIP code ready; a ZIP check alone does not prove eligibility. Next: review the displayed plan and device options.
2. Find your qualifying path
Check a qualifying benefit program, income, Tribal program, or survivor pathway. If none applies, review USAC's current rules before providing personal information. Next: gather your details.
3. Prepare accurate personal details
Use your legal name, date of birth, physical address, and identification information exactly as on your official records. A mismatch can trigger extra verification. Next: start the official application.
4. Start on an official channel
Follow SafeLink's enrollment flow or USAC's Lifeline application. Texas and Oregon use state application routes identified by USAC. Watch for the actual site address before entering private details. Next: complete verification.
5. Respond to the verifier
An automated check may confirm a program or income route, or ask for additional documents. Read the exact request; do not upload a different document just because it seems similar. Next: submit any requested proof.
6. Submit documents if asked
Upload clear, complete copies using the official instructions. If a file is rejected, check whether it shows your name, the correct program or income, issuer, and required dates. Next: save the confirmation.
7. Save your reference
Keep the application ID or confirmation and note which site or provider you used. An application started or submitted is not the same as approval. Next: monitor messages and status.
8. Complete provider enrollment
Once your Lifeline qualification is confirmed, finish SafeLink's provider steps. Device or SIM options depend on the offer and compatibility. If you plan to keep a number, ask about porting before cancelling your old line.
9. Activate and test service
Follow the instructions included with your device or SIM and use SafeLink support if activation does not complete. Check a call, text, and data connection; keep your benefit active by following usage and recertification rules.
