Follow your notice before the deadline.
- USAC or your state checks your Lifeline eligibility each year.
- If you receive a request to recertify, respond within 60 days.
- If your benefit ended and you still qualify, you may reapply.
Watch for a notice
USAC may send a letter, email, or reminder. Texas and Oregon use state processes. Read the actual instructions, deadline, and requested proof; SafeLink also provides a RECERTIFY keyword at 611611.
How can I respond?
USAC lists an online form, a mailed form, or a phone response when no documents are required. The letter includes your application ID. A call-only option is not available when proof documentation is needed.
Report changes and use your service
Tell your provider within 30 days if your address changes, you no longer qualify, or more than one member of your household receives Lifeline. If you do not pay out of pocket, use service at least once every 30 days; USAC describes a 15-day notice before termination for non-use.
Missed a deadline or lost service?
Contact USAC about recertification and SafeLink about your line. If you lost Lifeline but still qualify, you can reapply. This guide cannot restore an account.
