Match the problem to the team that can fix it.
- For a document or identity mismatch, follow the National Verifier's request and ask USAC.
- For a SIM, number transfer, or no service, ask SafeLink.
- Never post your application ID or account details in a public forum.
Identity, date of birth, or SSN mismatch
An automated check may not match your records. Compare your legal details, then follow the exact proof request in the official application. USAC can explain which document is acceptable.
Address or household conflict
Check the physical address, unit number, and location information. If a different Lifeline household shares the address, complete the Household Worksheet if requested. Ask USAC if you need a mapped location.
Benefit or income not found
Confirm you selected the correct program or income route. A current award letter, benefits portal statement, tax return, or consecutive pay stubs may be needed; consult the official document list.
Upload fails or a document is rejected
Check that the image is legible and complete and shows the requested name, issuer, program or income, and dates. Retry through the official upload page or contact USAC about the specific rejection.
Application pending or denied
A pending case may need more information. A denial should include the reason and any next steps. Check status with USAC for verifier decisions or SafeLink for provider enrollment; keep your case reference handy.
No confirmation or repeated application
Look in the account and messages tied to the official application. Contact support with your name and any reference; avoid sharing that reference publicly.
SIM or phone will not activate
Follow the instructions for your particular SIM or device. Check whether the device is compatible and the enrollment is complete. SafeLink support can inspect your activation status.
No calls, texts, or mobile data
Check coverage, device settings, and remaining plan status. SafeLink's 611611 SUPPORT keyword can guide troubleshooting; APN offers data settings and BALANCE checks allowance.
Number transfer is delayed
Keep your old service active while SafeLink handles the port. Use the official PORTIN help keyword or contact SafeLink with the transfer details; timing depends on the carriers.
Recertification or service interruption
Open the notice from USAC or your state and follow its deadline. If the benefit ended, USAC says you may reapply if you still qualify. Contact SafeLink for the current state of your line.
Lost or damaged phone
Report a lost or stolen device promptly through SafeLink's LOST keyword from another phone or customer care. Ask about replacement options and how to preserve service and your number.
